Chen Yi
Biography
b. 1953 Guangzhou, China. Studied at Central Conservatory, Beijing, and Columbia University, New York. Principal teachers have included Chou Wen-chung, Mario Davidovsky, Wu Zu-qiang and Alexander Goehr. Has taught at Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and is currently Distinguished Professor at University of Missouri, Kansas City. Recipient of
numerous commissions, fellowships and international awards; elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences, 2005. Her works, recorded on many labels, include music for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo instruments, chorus and voice.
