Jim Clarke
Biography
Jim Clarke lectures in jazz and popular music at Canterbury Christ Church University College and at the University of Surrey in Guildford. As well as directing the CCCUC Big Band he is also engaged in PhD research at CCCUC on the role of popular music in education.
Jim has considerable experience in jazz and popular music, principally as a performer, but also as a composer and arranger. In 2001 and 2002 he undertook performance tours of North Africa and the Middle East in addition to performances throughout the UK. Recent recording credits include the album Different Wars by the African singer, Maiuko.
As a consultant to the Associated Board, he has been involved in developing their new jazz syllabus.
