Martin Butler
Biography
b. 1960 Romsey, Hampshire, England. Studied at University of Manchester and Royal Northern College of Music; also, with a Fulbright Award, at Princeton University. Was later Composer-in-Residence at Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study. Principal composition teacher was Anthony Gilbert; also studied with Luciano Berio and Paul Lansky. Currently Professor of Music at University of Sussex. Works are performed and broadcast internationally and appear on several record labels. Output includes opera and music for orchestra, chorus, chamber ensembles and solo instruments.
