David Gorton
Biography
b. 1978 Spalding, Lincolnshire, England. Read music at Durham University before studying composition with Harrison Birtwistle at King's College, London; then with Simon Bainbridge at the Royal Academy of Music (PhD in composition, 2004). Several awards include Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize, 2001, and Alan Bush Composition Prize, 2002. Currently holds a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music. Has written orchestral and choral music, as well as works for various instrumental ensembles and solo instruments.
