David Goode
Biography
David Goode was a music scholar at Eton College and organ scholar at King's College, Cambridge from 1991-1994, taking a double first and the MPhil degree. David studied the organ with David Sanger and Jacques van Oortmerssen. From 1996-2001 he was sub-organist at Christ Church, Oxford and as a result of this appointment, he toured Europe, the US, Brazil and Japan.
After wining prizes at the 1997 St. Alban Competition and the 1998 Calgary Competition David embarked on a freelance career in 2001. He has appeared several times at the Proms and in 2002 made recital debuts in the Royal Festival Hall and the Symphony Hall, Birmingham. He has toured throughout Europe, South Africa and Canada. David has also visited the US many times since 1998, including during a visiting professorship at William Jewell College in Missouri.
During 2003 David will tour to Europe, Canada, the Far East and South Africa. He is best known for performances of large-scale Romantic works, but is also an exponent of contemporary music, having worked with numerous composers.
David's recordings include French Showpieces from King's, Orb and Sceptre and Commotio as well as Saint-Saëns' Organ Symphony with the BBC Philharmonic and discs with ensembles such as the BBC Singers. He currently engaged in a project of committing to disc all of Reger's organ music. David also contributes to various organ and recording journals and is increasingly in demand as a lecturer and teacher.
