Hilda Paredes
Biography
b. 1957 Mexico City. Moved to London 1979. Studied at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, at City University, London, and Manchester University. Teachers include Peter Maxwell Davies and Richard Rodney Bennett. Plays piano and flute. Has taught at Mexico City University, Manchester University, Centre Acanthes, France, and University of San Diego, California; has also worked as producer of new music for Mexican radio. Recipient of an Arts Council Fellowship (UK), the Rockefeller Fund for Culture Mexico/USA Award and the J. S. Guggenheim Fellowship (USA), amongst others. Works have been performed and recorded internationally. Output includes opera, works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, voice and music for dance; also arrangements of Spanish and Mexican songs.
