Ananda Sukarlan
Biography
b. 1968 Jakarta. Now lives in Spain and Indonesia. Studied at Royal Conservatory of The Hague and graduated summa cum laude. Successful career as international concert pianist. Also active as champion of contemporary music and dedicatee of more than 200 works by composers including Peter Sculthorpe, Per Nørgård and Jesús Rueda. Has recorded numerous CDs, among them complete piano works of Santiago Lanchares, David del Puerto and Toru Takemitsu. In Jakarta founded the Conservatory of Music. Artistic Director of Paralelo Festivals, held in several cities including New York City and Monterrey. Ongoing compositional projects are Whitman Landscapes for various instruments, Flash Gordon (music theatre based on the comic strip) and a cycle of solo piano pieces, for left hand alone.
