Jesus Torres

Biography

b. 1965 Zaragoza, Spain. Studied at Conservatorio Superior de Madrid. Principal composition teachers were Francisco Guerrero and Luis de Pablo. Plays violin and piano. Has won: first prize SGAE (Spanish authors' society), Madrid, 1992; Gaudeamus Prize, Amsterdam, 1995; first prize Valentino Bucchi, Rome, 1997; and Reina Sofia Prize, Madrid, 1999. Composer-in-Residence, National Youth Orchestra of Spain, 1998. Works have been internationally performed and are recorded on various labels. Output includes music for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo instruments and voice.
