New Sales Executive for ABRSM Publishing
The continuing success of ABRSM Publishing has led to the creation of the new post of UK & Ireland Sales Executive. Roger Gale has been appointed with effect from 3 July 2006, reporting to Ben Selby, Marketing & Sales Manager. Roger will be travelling regularly in the UK and Ireland, visiting retailers. He will become ABRSM’s principal contact with members of the music and book retail trade.
As well as working closely with all staff in ABRSM Publishing, he will also have day-to-day contact with marketing and sales staff at Oxford University Press, the company’s exclusive worldwide distributor.
Roger has previously worked for Novello and then Music Sales for 17 years, most recently working as one of two classical sales representatives, responsible for selling the Music Sales education catalogue in the south of England. Roger brings highly-respected professional sales skills and a great knowledge of the music retail industry to ABRSM Publishing, as well as an out-going and enthusiastic personality.
Roger commented: ‘I am absolutely delighted to take up this appointment and would like to express my sincere thanks to ABRSM Publishing for their warm welcome and assistance. I’m looking forward to this new role and the opportunity it poses to raise the profile, as well as the sales, of the company to the trade and public in the UK’.
Ben Selby, ABRSM Publishing’s Marketing and Sales Manager said ‘We are delighted to have Roger on board. Roger’s immense knowledge and understanding of the retail business will be an enormous support to us in better meeting the needs of our retail customers. Combining with the work of OUP’s Sales and Marketing Department in Oxford and Telesales operation in Corby, we hope to offer our retail customers a service that is second to none.’
Roger’s passion for music started as a young boy when he joined a local church choir. On leaving school, he joined the army as a military musician and spent nine years “playing for Queen and Country!” Shortly after leaving the services he became Field Sales Executive for Novello, and subsequently Education & Classical Sales Representative for Music Sales when they purchased the previously independent publisher. His musical tastes are varied and is likely to be found listening to Resphigi one minute followed by Steve Hackett or Bill Bruford the next!
Roger can be reached by telephone on 020 7467 8980 or by email at rgale@abrsm.ac.uk.
