ABRSM Publishing in joint venture with Roland UK
The Associated Board and Roland UK have established a partnership to produce MIDI files of ABRSM piano exam repertoire. ABRSM have created MIDI files of the pieces in the Selected Piano Exam Pieces 2007-2008 albums at Grades 1 to 5, and the MIDI files are available from Roland’s website – www.roland.co.uk/abrsm. Prices range from £9.95 for Grades 1 and 2 to £11.95 for Grade 5.
MIDI files present students with additional ways of preparing for their Associated Board piano exams, allowing them to practise hands separately while the digital piano plays the other part; they can alter the tempo or listen to full performances of the pieces they are preparing.
This is the first opportunity for Associated Board piano exam candidates to use digital technology to help prepare exam pieces, other than studying and learning from performances on CD.
The release of the MIDI files coincides with the publication of the new Associated Board Piano Syllabus for 2007-2008. Selected Piano Exam Pieces 2007-2008, Grades 1 to 8, and CD recordings of the complete piano syllabus, will be published on 6 July.
