Alun Hoddinott
Biography
b.1929 Bargoed, Glamorganshire. Composed and played violin from an early age. Studied at University College, Cardiff, and later in London with Arthur Benjamin. Founded Cardiff Festival of 20th Century Music with John Ogdon in 1967, remaining its artistic director for over twenty years, during which time he was also Professor of Music at Cardiff University. Prolific output for many forms: operatic, orchestral, chamber, choral, solo instrumental and vocal.
