Anthony Payne
Biography
b. 1936 London. Before becoming a student at Durham University composed a number of works, then abandoned composition for some years. Became active as music journalist, continuing to work in this field after returning to composition in mid-1960s. Has published books on Schoenberg (1968) and Frank Bridge (1984) and on his completion of Elgar’s Third Symphony (1998). Output includes orchestral, choral and chamber works, solo instrumental and vocal music.
