Howard Skempton
Biography
b. 1947 Chester. Studied privately with Cornelius Cardew, a significant influence, both as a leading experimentalist and as a fine pianist. Has written over three hundred works, many of them short ‘lyric poems’ for piano or accordion; also music for ballet and orchestral, choral, vocal and chamber ensembles. Professional activities have included being visiting Lecturer in Composition at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and working in music publishing, as well as playing the accordion.
