Edward McGuire
Biography
b. 1948 Glasgow. As junior student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music received flute lessons from David Nicholson. Studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music, London, with James Iliff; later with Ingvar Lidholm in Stockholm. Plays flute with Scottish traditional folk-group, The Whistlebinkies, with whom he regularly records and tours internationally. Has composed for a wide variety of forces, including orchestra, chamber ensembles and solo instruments, as well as opera and ballet.
