Lyell Cresswell
Biography
b. 1944 Wellington, New Zealand. Now lives in Scotland. Studied in Wellington, Toronto, Aberdeen and Utrecht. Has been composer-in-residence at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Guest lecturer L'Accademia di Brera, Milan, 1987, and L'Accademia di Belle Arti, Bologna, 1994. Artistic director of the ‘New Zealand, New Music’ festival in Edinburgh, 1998. Received a Scottish Arts Council Creative Scotland Award, 2001. Has been featured composer at numerous festivals around the world. Output includes works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, chorus, voice and solo instruments.
