Ramon Lazkano
Biography
b. 1968 Saint Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain where he received piano and composition lessons from Juan Padrosa and Francisco Escudero at the Saint Sebastian Higher Conservatory. Subsequently studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Alain Bancquart and Gérard Grisey, and with Gilles Tremblay at the Montreal Conservatory. Has taught at the University of the Basque Country and Strasbourg Conservatory. Composer-in-residence for the National Youth Orchestra of Spain 1998–9 and at the Villa Medici, Rome, 2001–2. Conducts OSTOTS ensemble, performing contemporary Basque music. Works include music for orchestra, chorus, chamber ensembles and solo instruments.
